From May to August, Mykines belongs to the puffins. Tens of thousands of them. The ferry is weather-dependent. The walk is worth every gust.

The island decides.

If the ferry runs, you are lucky. If it doesn't, you are still on Vágar.

Mykines is run by the weather. The ferry sails only when the swell allows it, which in practice means many summer days and very few winter ones. You go when the island lets you.

The puffins do not perform. They live here. The walk to the lighthouse passes their colonies — sit, do not approach, and they will go about their work as if you were a rock.
